The Teltron Thomson Tube S is used to investigate electron beams in electric and magnetic fields. 

Experiment Topics:
• Investigate the deflection of an electron beam by a magnetic field
• Estimate the specific charge of an electron
• Investigate the deflection of an electron beam by an electric field
• Construct a velocity filter using orthogonal electric and magnetic fields

An integrated plate capacitor allows the electron beam to be deflected electrostatically and use of Helmholtz coils allows the electron beam to be deflected magnetically. The path taken by the electron beam is rendered visible on a fluorescent screen with a scale inclined by 10° with respect to the beam axis.

Cathode heating voltage: U_h < 7.5 V, I_h < 0.4 A
Anode voltage: U_a < 5 kV
Anode current: typically I_a = 0.2 mA at U_a = 4 kV
Deflection voltage: U < 350 V
